Terms of Use
Project Exporter for ChatGPT
Developer: Bijal Patel
Last updated: 17 August 2026
1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the browser extension Project Exporter for ChatGPT (the “Extension”), developed by Bijal Patel (“Developer”, “I”, “me”, or “my”).
By installing or using the Extension, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.
2. What the Extension does
The Extension is a user-directed export utility that allows you to select conversations available to you within a ChatGPT Project and export them as individual Markdown or JSON files bundled in a ZIP archive.
The Extension is designed to operate within your browser using your existing authenticated ChatGPT session. It does not provide a separate ChatGPT account, does not supply ChatGPT access, and does not operate as an independent ChatGPT service.
3. Independent extension
Project Exporter for ChatGPT is an independent extension developed by Bijal Patel. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by OpenAI.
“OpenAI”, “ChatGPT”, and related names and marks belong to their respective owners. References to ChatGPT are used only to identify the service with which the Extension is designed to work.
4. Your responsibility for your account and content
You may use the Extension only with accounts, Projects, conversations, and content that you are authorized to access.
You are responsible for:
- complying with the terms, policies, and rules that apply to your ChatGPT account;
- ensuring that you have the right to export, store, use, or share the content you export;
- safeguarding downloaded ZIP files and exported conversation files;
- complying with applicable copyright, privacy, confidentiality, employment, contractual, and other laws or obligations relating to exported content.
The Extension does not grant you rights in content that you do not otherwise have.
5. Local processing and data handling
The Extension is designed so that conversation export processing takes place locally in your browser.
The Extension does not send your conversation content to the Developer or to third-party analytics, advertising, or processing services.
To provide resumable exports, the Extension may temporarily store conversation export data in your browser’s extension storage. Completed-export summary metadata may also be retained locally for up to 30 days. You can clear exporter data from within the Extension.
Further details are provided in the Extension’s Privacy Policy.
6. Authentication
The Extension uses your existing authenticated ChatGPT browser session to perform the export you request.
The Extension does not ask you to provide your ChatGPT password or authentication token. Authentication credentials captured from the active browser session are not intentionally stored, included in exported files, or transmitted to the Developer.
You remain responsible for the security of your ChatGPT account and browser environment.
7. License and permitted use
Subject to these Terms, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable right to install and use the Extension.
You may not:
- use the Extension for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, abusive, or unauthorized purposes;
- use the Extension to access content you are not authorized to access;
- misrepresent the Extension as an official OpenAI product;
- remove or falsify attribution, legal notices, or the independent-extension disclaimer;
- use the Extension in a manner intended to interfere with, damage, overload, bypass restrictions on, or disrupt ChatGPT or any third-party service.
Nothing in these Terms authorizes conduct prohibited by the terms governing your use of ChatGPT or any other third-party service.
8. Availability and compatibility
The Extension depends on the structure, functionality, and availability of ChatGPT, modern web browsers, and browser-extension APIs that are outside the Developer’s control.
ChatGPT or browser changes may cause the Extension to stop working temporarily or permanently. Features may be modified, suspended, or discontinued without guarantee of continued availability.
The Developer does not guarantee compatibility with every browser version, ChatGPT account type, Project configuration, or future version of ChatGPT.
9. Free use and optional donations
The Extension is currently provided free of charge.
The Developer may offer an optional donation mechanism in the future. Donations, if offered, will be voluntary and will not by themselves create any entitlement to support, service levels, warranties, ownership rights, or additional functionality unless explicitly stated at the time.
The Developer may change the Extension’s distribution or funding model in the future, subject to applicable law and any notice required by the relevant browser-extension platform.
10. Intellectual property
Except for third-party marks and content, the Extension’s original code, branding, documentation, and other original materials are owned by or licensed to the Developer and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of the Extension or its intellectual property to you.
Your exported content remains subject to whatever ownership, licensing, confidentiality, and other rights apply to that content independently of the Extension.
11. Third-party services
The Extension interacts with ChatGPT, a third-party service operated by OpenAI.
Your use of ChatGPT remains governed by the terms and policies that apply between you and OpenAI. The Developer does not control and is not responsible for ChatGPT, OpenAI accounts, service availability, content generated by ChatGPT, changes to ChatGPT, account restrictions, or actions taken by OpenAI.
The Extension may stop functioning if ChatGPT changes its technical implementation or access requirements.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Extension is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
The Developer does not warrant that:
- the Extension will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free;
- every conversation or message will export perfectly;
- exported files will meet every user’s formatting, archival, legal, regulatory, or evidentiary requirements;
- the Extension will remain compatible with future versions of ChatGPT or supported browsers;
- locally stored checkpoints or downloaded files will never be lost, corrupted, deleted, or inaccessible.
You should independently verify important exports and maintain appropriate backups.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, business, goodwill, access, or opportunity arising from or related to your use of, inability to use, or reliance on the Extension.
Because the Extension is provided free of charge, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer’s aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Extension will not exceed the greater of:
- the amount you paid specifically for the Extension during the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or
- the minimum liability amount that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
14. No professional or archival guarantee
The Extension is a convenience and portability tool. It is not a certified records-management, compliance, e-discovery, legal-archive, evidentiary-preservation, or backup service.
If you require records for legal, regulatory, professional, institutional, or compliance purposes, you are responsible for determining whether the exported files satisfy those requirements.
15. Changes to the Extension or these Terms
The Extension may be updated from time to time for security, compatibility, functionality, legal, or other reasons.
These Terms may also be updated. When changes are material, reasonable notice will be provided where practicable, such as through the Extension listing, documentation, website, or another appropriate channel.
Continued use of the Extension after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
16. Termination
You may stop using the Extension at any time by disabling or uninstalling it.
The Developer may discontinue the Extension or restrict future distribution if necessary for security, legal, policy, technical, or other legitimate reasons.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law—will continue to apply.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
18. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms expressly presented with the Extension, constitute the agreement between you and the Developer concerning the Extension.
They do not replace or modify the separate terms between you and OpenAI or any browser-extension marketplace.
19. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Subject to any mandatory consumer rights or dispute-resolution requirements that apply to you, the courts in Pune, Maharashtra, India will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Extension.
